In March 2011 the MRRPC sponsored a 80 plus question survey that was mailed to 4,059
households in the nine county region.  The survey was conducted to gauge resident opinions on
such issues as: incentives for business and industry, shifting of the property tax burden to other
sources, recreation and tourism opportunities that would be most accepted and successful,
preferred land use development patterns, forms of alternative energy sources that would be most
accepted and successful, and how residents view the existing and forsee the future quality of life in
their community.

The survey information will be used to assist residents and local elected officials make better
informed choices on how to handle continued growth and development and help us regionally
plan.  The survey achieved a margin of error of 2.6% for the nine county region as a whole and 7-
8.4%margin of error range among the individual nine counties with a 95% confidence interval.
